Whitland (162 for 6) drew with St Ishmaels (160 for 9)

Whitland and St Ishmaels fought out a thrilling tense draw at Springfield park.

The Borderers batted first and finished on a very respectable 162 for six after their allotted overs.

Paul Webb struck a solid 32, before heading back to the pavilion with the score on 97, after being comprehensively bowled by Steve Williams.

Webb's partner in crime Dave Lee was in splendid form scoring 75, an innings which consisted of 10 boundaries.

Mark Lee also scored 32 for Whitland, but Andrew Palmer grabbed three wickets to help put the skids on a late run chase.

In reply, Tish suffered an early set back when they had opener Steve Williams trapped lbw by Mark Lee in the very first over.

In-form Peter Bradshaw struck seven fours in his splendid half century and Andrew Williams (35, three fours) advanced the score to 86, before Williams was bowled by Meyrick Rowlands.

Andrew Palmer put on 38 with Bradshaw, but spinners Webb, Rowlands and Lee all took three wickets apiece.

Tish teenager Chris Wilson needed a four off the last ball to claim victory. But he could only manage a single and in the end a draw was probably the right result.
