THE County Show ends today (Thursday) after three days of bumper crowds, glorious sunshine, fierce competition, and fabulous attractions.

Despite early teething problems for the new car parking system, delays on Tuesday morning were short lived and the crowds poured into the Withybush show ground. A total of 100,000 visitors are expected to have flocked to the show this year, the numbers no doubt boosted by three days of wonderful sunshine.

The traditional horse and stock judging kicked off on Tuesday morning with over 500 cattle and hundreds of horses parading around the main rings hoping to catch the eye of the judges.

Businesses and organisations filled 600 trade stands with tractors, cars, Tupperware, cookers, clothes and much more. Local produce was available for sampling and the craft marquee was bursting with items as diverse as jewellery, furniture and walking sticks.

Although agriculture formed the backbone of the show, there were a wealth of attractions on offer to appeal to a wider audience.

The major crowd pullers in the grand ring were the daredevil antics of the white helmet motorcycle display team, and the fearless Royal Artillery Parachute Display team.

The woodland and conservation area played host to the Welsh lumberjack team who enthralled the crowds with their wood chopping and sawing routines before racing up two 90ft poles, with the European champion reaching the top in under 10 seconds!

Following the disappointing cancellation in 2001 due to the foot and mouth epidemic, this year the County Show firmly re-established itself as Pembrokeshire's premier event.
