RAIN failed to dampen spirits at the St Ishmaels carnival on Saturday, with 10 floats joining in the fun.
When Milford Town Band unfortunately cancelled, people took the matter into their own hands. "We couldn't get a marching band so we made our own up - we won't be beaten!" said Tracy Griffiths. The result , the Village Alternative band, combined rio carnvival music with gazoos and whistles.
Five vintage sports cars, led by John Everett, were also part of the procession.
There were more celebrations in the sports club, including 11-year-old Jasmine Thomas from Marloes playing saxophone, and sisters Emily and Katie Cheshire singing, and despite having never performed in public before, leaving the audience "mesmerised".
Dancers, bellydancers and Theeeko Breeelo the clown also took part. The guest of honour was Howard Jenkins, the oldest member of the village, who will be 98 in November.
Other acts, including the New Orleans Jazz Band, went down so well that they will hopefully be back next year.
