An important historical landmark in Milford Haven is currently undergoing vital restoration work.

The Pill Priory is a Tironian House dating back to the 12th century.

Three years ago, Rudy and Clarine Peleman bought the property in Lower Priory and began the task of restoring the monastery to its former glory.

Rudy said: “It has been standing for 830 years and had fallen into disarray.”

As well as carrying out extensive work to the living quarters of the monastery, the couple were keen to conserve the impressive Chancel Arch which had become weathered and overgrown with ivy.

In April, the couple secured a grant from CADW to restore the important piece of local history.

With completion of the work just weeks away the couple are delighted with the results and say they are happy to share their piece of history with locals and visitors alike.

Rudy added: “To us it will always remain a valuable historical asset to the people of Milford Haven.”

After researching the history of the priory, Belgian born Rudy, was delighted to discover the land was owned by people of Flemish descent in the 12th century.
