Inspirational pair sail through epic coastal journey

An inspirational sailor arrived in Milford Haven at the weekend, part way through an epic 2,000-mile voyage around Britain.

Determined to focus on a positive challenge after being diagnosed with a malignant brain tumour, Josie Phillips decided to embark on the anti-clockwise sail around the coast of Britain with her husband Roger, in aid of Brain Tumour Research.

After leaving Ipswich in May, the couple arrived in Milford Haven on Sunday morning and were greeted by members of the Thorne Mason Trust, an umbrella group of Brain Tumour Research set up in Pembrokeshire.

Co-founder of the local charity, Debi Mason, said: “We are inspired by Josie’s bravery and strength in the face of her brain tumour.

“We are so pleased that she has chosen to visit Milford Haven and we would hope everyone contributes so that she can reach her fundraising target of £20,000 for Brain Tumour Research.”

After a stop off at Neyland marina, where 27-year-old doctor Josie and Roger were provided with a free berth, the couple set off on the south coast of England leg of their journey.
