MERCURY columnist Jeff Dunn has announced that his latest stage production will also be his last.
The Bobby Wilson Story (12A), an original musical play, takes to the Torch Theatre stage later this month and will mark the end of an era.
Jeff has penned a number of stage plays over the past 20 years including The Day War Broke Out, Land Ladies and War and Pieces of Milford, performing to sell-out audiences.
Jeff said: “As I suffer from rheumatoid arthritis, particularly in my hands, it has now become difficult and more time consuming to undertake projects of this scale.
“I’m hoping that The Bobby Wilson Story will be a fitting production with which to finish.”
The story is set in the 1960s and follows Milford boy Bobby Wilson, one time apprentice plumber and self taught singer songwriter, as he heads off to London to try and make it in the world of pop music.
After 40 years he returns home to perform his final show at the Milford Haven theatre.
The show’s director Lloyd Grayshon and musical director Jerome Davies said they have both enjoyed the experience of working alongside Jeff on this unique project.
Lloyd said: “We are both pleased that we could be involved in Jeff’s last big show and want him to go out on a high note. ”
Jeff says he is in constant awe of the talent and dedication of those involved in the local drama and music scene, adding: “Thanks to the highly gifted Lloyd Grayshon and Jerome Davies, the drama and musical content of this show has reached levels that even I hadn’t thought possible.”
The Bobby Wilson Story is on at the Torch Theatre from March 1 till March 3, nightly from 7.30pm.
