A man from Pembroke Dock was sentenced to 12 years in prison for two rapes by Swansea crown court yesterday.

Michael John Lloyd McNamara was due to face trial on four charges of rape of a woman over the age of 16 between June 2005 and January 2007 and two charges of assault by penetration.

The 32-year-old had also denied two allegations of rape involving a different woman between January 2011 and December 2013.

McNamara changed his plea on Monday (February 19).

He admitted two rapes between 2005 and 2007 and a charge of sexual assault, no penetration between January 2011 and December 2013.

A further three rapes between June 2005 and January 2007 and two sexual assaults by penetration in the same period remaining on file, along with two other rapes between January 2011 and December 2013.

Once of Bush Street but then of no fixed address, Mcnamara had been further remanded into custody following a plea and trial preparation hearing at Haverfordwest magistrates court in July 2017.

At Swansea he was sentenced to a total of 12 years for three offences and must sign the sex offenders register for an indefinite period.
