A new Aldi supermarket could be opening in Pembroke or Pembroke Dock soon.

Following the closures of Kwik Save supermarkets across the country, Aldi is looking to step into the breach in Pembrokeshire and is actively searching for a site to open a new store in the county.

A spokesman said: "We would love to open a store in Pembroke Dock and are currently considering sites in Pembroke, Pembroke Dock and Tenby."

Aldi believes its low cost prices would enable it to compete with nearby competitors Asda and Tesco in Pembroke Dock.

Recently the German company made its mark in Pembrokeshire, opening a store in Haverfordwest.

Aldi is also opening a supermarket in Cardigan and expanding its Cross Hands outlet as part of a £35 million scheme in the next five years.

The company aims to open a distribution warehouse in Cardiff, which it says can only happen if Aldi rapidly expands in the south and west of Wales.'
