A SERIES of successes at the NFYFC national competitions day has given Pembrokeshire YFC cause for celebration.

Topping the table at the national finals held at Staffordshire County Showground was the senior debating team of Ros Bushell and Emma James, of Llysyfran YFC, William Lawrence, of Brawdy YFC, and Peter and Rhiannon Llewellin from Llawhaden YFC.

The team was placed second, only three marks behind the winners, with Peter also named the top chairman.

Taking third place was Anna Lee, of South Pembrokeshire YFC, with her design for a YFC business card.

There were a series of excellent results in the floral and cookery sections, with Pembrokeshire's members all named in the excellent section, narrowly missing out on the top spots.

In the cookery, Llawhaden YFC's team of Adam Clark, Fiona Curtlin and Sarah Edwards were placed fourth for their four course Banquet for King Arthur.

There were also two fourth places for Melanie Ferrier, of South Pembs YFC and Hayley Adams, from Llawhaden YFC in the floral art.

Hayley's creation of The Land of Makebelieve was fourth in the junior section and Melanie earned her fourth place in the intermediate category for her depiction of Nelson Mandela as A Legend of our Time.

In the senior section, which was themed A Myth or a Legend, Angharad Llewellyn, from South Pembs YFC was placed sixth for her interpretation of the Welsh legend of Gelert.

Llysyfran YFC's basketball team also competed at the event, coming away with one win and two losses.

Other competitors included Alice James, of Llawhaden YFC in the design board and fellow club members Jade Mason and Owain Lewis taking part in the junior nature trail.
