Rumours concern

ALARM bells started ringing when I read agenda item 32 of the county council meeting on February 28th.

Councillor D. Bryan posed the following question: “Rumours have been circulating in the Haverfordwest area for the past few weeks concerning the influx of socially housed people from the large cities of England due to an arrangement whereby the council allegedly receives monies for coping with this relocation. Would the leader please clarify the situation?”

I feel compelled to flag this ahead of the leader’s response, as the minutes of the meeting might take some time.

My concerns are: what work will there be for these people? where will they live?

and how many are there?

Could it be that the numerous housing developments underway at present are in anticipation of this expected demand?

This initiative may well be being replicated in other parts of Wales, and to my mind should not be undertaken without full consultation with the local public.

Does the Welsh Assembly have a hand in this?

Questions need to be answered.
