Thanks for stupendous support

TO the people of Pembrokeshire, I was one of the many people who descended on your beautiful county for Ironman Wales 2013.
Pembrokeshire is one of my favourite places on earth and Ironman has been a dream of mine for years.
Combining the two was perfect!
I was never going to be a threat to the elite field and certainly made the most of my day out by finishing in 15hrs 50mins.
This was nothing short of a miracle for me and I have you to thank for that.
The support was absolutely incredible.
I cannot find the words to explain just how much it helps to have people cheering, clapping and shouting your name. You were there as the rain came down and still there when I was on my second bike lap, hours into the race.
The group of children shouting ‘believe, believe, believe in yourself ’ as I was pedalling up yet another hill made me smile and I’m still repeating the mantra now!
I apologise to the people who wanted a high five up the hills but I was worried that if I let go of the handlebar I would fall off !
The group of ladies on the run course who were cheering from their balcony had a very late night as they were still there shouting ‘do it for the girls’ on my final lap.
Each and every one of you helped me reach my goal of completing an Ironman and I will be forever grateful.
Next year, I’ll be joining you as a supporter!
