I AM an old Pembrokeshire girl, ex Taskers living in London.

On Tuesday my husband and I stopped off in Haverfordwest, on our way back from a walking weekend around St Davids and walked along Bridge Street for the first time in a couple of years.

I was shocked. Yes, high streets are in decline all over the country but not on the scale of Bridge Street. How has the council allowed this to happen?

Yes, I understand that local residents want big brands like M&S, but look at the mess that this out-of-town strategy has left on this fine old town.

Wake up Pembrokeshire council, Western Telegraph what can you do to campaign to put some soul back into the centre of town?

Some people may say that I have no right to be writing this as I don’t live in the area, but this is such a tragedy.

Our next stop was Narberth, a fantastic example of how a little town can become a destination for locals and visitors alike.

It may be too late to save Bridge Street, I hope not, where there is a will there is a way.
