ON Saturday I contact the out of hours GP, to see if I need a change of antibiotics due to chest infection and shortness of breath.

My condition was deteriorating even though I had been on antibiotics and steroids since the previous Tuesday.

The on call said I’m sending an ambulance now. The paramedics were exceptional, unfortunately , we were left outside WWGH, without A/E assessment.

Again the crew said I was beginning to deteriorate . I was rushed straight to resus, almost in respiratory arrest, my children were so so frightened even though they are adult age. I am 52 years old.

We have no doubt, if it wasn’t for the paramedics I would have gone into complete arrest.

These fantastic paramedics could have been on another job a lot earlier if I had been assessed a lot sooner.

I’m sure there were a lot of unnecessary minor cases seen during this time. I’m now home at my eldest’s home on numerous tablets and nebulisers.

The ambulance service need help and support by the multi disciplinary teams.

A/E should be split into three departments, minor cuts etc and broken bones, general surgery and then life threatening.

I and my family would dearly like to praise and thank the crew that came from Haverfordwest to StClears to take me to Carmarthen on January 3.
