I AM a 70-year-old Penycwm boy who finds all the recent publicity about the pebble bank at Newgale very amusing. I well remember walking down the hill to see the sea wash over the pebble bank over many years. I can remember the wooden beer barrels floating out of what was then the Bridge Inn.
Despite what is being claimed there has been no change in the structure of the pebbles and to suggest St Davids and Solva would be cut off is just plain scaremongering as there are at least six different ways to get to Haverfordwest. There has been talk of a bridge being built for the last 30 years.
The only thing I can suggest is for possible a viaduct been built to allow the river to drain quicker.
The sea used to come over the road far more frequently in the past so leave things alone.
