THE news that confidence in the future of the health service in Wales is rapidly declining is shocking.

This is a damning indictment of Labour health ministers who have been responsible for the NHS in Wales since 1999. Given the implosion in the Betsi Cadwaladr Health Board and the scandal of the A+E service in Cardiff there are fears that there is even worse that is not be reported.

Labour’s handing in Wales is trusted even less than the heath service in England.

Over a third of Welsh patients said that they did not trust the NHS in Wales very much or at all. The English figure is 21%.

This is not a one off survey but part of a trend of evidence.

If Labour’s record is bad enough a staggering 47% expected Welsh health services to become even poorer.

This is partly a result of 19 years of Labour running the NHS both at Assembly level but also through the many Labour politicians who have been appointed to the Health Boards.

Plaid Cymru wants to see a properly funded health service. There is a need for an extra 1,000 doctors and health workers to provide the level of care patients deserve.

People need the hope that there is a better alternative to the stale and lazy policies that are dragging Wales down. Our country has the ability and capacity as a nation to run health effectively under a Plaid Cymru government.
