I am writing with regards to the proposed reorganisation of schools across the county.

The irony as I read in last week’s paper quotes from our prestigious councillors, including Cllr Adams and Cllr George that in terms of amalgamating authorities across Wales ‘big is not always beautiful’ and “there is no evidence that larger authorities perform better”.

However, when it comes to educating our children we are told getting big is the only way forward, whether it is amalgamating primary schools or trying to create ‘super’ secondary schools!

I am not in favour of going back to Dyfed, neither am I in favour of ripping schools out of their communities.

It seems to me that when their own jobs may be on the line our Councillors are willing to stand up and fight, but when considering our community schools alternative arguments are being spun.

Please Councillors, as with amalgamating authorities, consider the social and environmental impacts of the school proposals, as well as the economic ones!
