THERE’S a cloud of pollution hanging over Solva. It’s the buses and taxis waiting to ferry our children three miles down the road. PCC want to shut Solva School!

That is unthinkable!

Yesterday, I went to a coffee morning there. The building has a familiar purpose and certainty. Light, colour, energy, children!

Then came value and purpose as I admired the huge range of children’s work. My sepia memories were swept away by this shining example of where children learn.

PCC say it’s unfit for purpose.

How many ‘Ha’s!’ can you print?

Chattering everywhere.

Ladies with perms, dads wrestling buggies and babies snug in arms. This old man sharing memories, listening to the children sing and watching as young through old mixed and talked and laughed. They were all Solva people.

That’s community and you can’t take the school out of community.
