Jeremy Corbyn has been criticised for not singing the national anthem, but he is not alone.
Opinion polls show that one third of the country are republicans, with one third being royalists and one third who don’t know and are floating voters.
We all believe we are patriotic but we believe in an elected head of state. In recent years the national anthem has been the subject of great discussion in newspapers, TV and radio.
It must be obvious to all that even royalists agree that it is time to change it. The national anthem is outdated and needs to be replaced with one that everyone can join in with.
