I WANTED to write to say how disappointed I was to see the Western Telegraph sensationalising the refugee crisis with last week’s headline “Asylum camp fear”.
Asylum seekers from Syria are people who have witnessed and experienced death and destruction in their country on a scale we can not begin to imagine.
Many will have lived for years in horrendous camps and starved to feed their children.
Surely it is our duty as compassionate citizens to offer any support we can.
These are not people to “fear”, but people like you or I who have suffered terrible hardship and are in need of our help.
Surely a better headline would have been “County to welcome asylum seekers”?
