PLAID Cymru Youth chairman in Pembrokeshire Ll R Williams must be trying to pull the wool over our eyes when he states: “Every man, woman and child in Wales get £40 more out of the EU than they pay in.”

It is worth giving this statement some thought, and life has taught me there is no such thing as a free lunch, also to heed the words of the old saying, “Beware the Greeks, bearing gifts.”

Golly, I wish my bank would give me (and my family) more than I put in. So perhaps Ll R Williams can fully explain to readers his figure of £40 when the UK pays £350million per week to belong to his very generous EU club.

Indeed he further offers the EU will invest £4billion into the Welsh economy between 2014 and 2020 – but during that period the UK will have paid his EU club £109.2dillion (do the maths).

Surely he realises that Wales is only getting a few crumbs off the EU table – a sprat to catch a mackerel.

Naively he also thinks the EU will (according to his figures) continue to be kind to Wales indefinitely.

Unfortunately life is just not so generous as he will learn, and he could be in for a nasty surprise if the Stay vote wins the day – eastern European countries such as Turkey (77 million inhabitants) joining the EU obviously have far greater populations than the 3 million souls in Wales – so where does he think Wales will eventually end up in the pecking order?

Lastly he claims Westminster will not make up any deficit if we pull out of the EU – surely he is not saying a Labour Government or for that matter, the Conservatives or any other political party in Westminster will do the ‘dirty’ on Wales.

Would he have us believe that it is by only voting for Plaid Cymru and the EU we will reach the light and the promised land – I wonder if he believes in fairies as well?
