IT would seem, from press reports, that the Sir Thomas Picton School will be too small to accommodate all 11- 18 pupils so a rearrangement of catchment areas – mentioned in earlier consultation exercises – is the only solution.
May I suggest a possible alternative. Re-open negotiations with the Tasker Milward Governors to explore the possibility of a Lower School and Upper School scenario under one headship.
Lower School pupils in Years 7 and 8 could be housed on the Tasker Milward site with the Years 9-13 pupils housed at Sir Thomas Picton so there would be no need for the catchment areas to be changed and the excellent facilities of both campuses would be accessible to all pupils.
It was Mark Twain who wrote – “You can never have a rose without thorns”.
