Unwelcome feeling LIKE others I am starting to think about the implications of the council tax surcharge on second homes.
I have been holidaying in Pembrokeshire for nearly 60 years, and have had a second home here for 30 years.
We are pensioners and the surcharge will make us materially poorer.
When we arrive, we have almost never brought in cheap ‘supermarket’ shopping from outside the local area. Sadly, this will have to change.
We will have to find ways to save on expenditure in Pembrokeshire. Much less local shopping, fewer visits to pubs, cafes or restaurants.
For decades I have praised the virtues of Pembrokeshire as a holiday destination to relatives and friends.
No more: it is now proven to be a place that treats outsiders with hostility.
My advice to others: stay away from the county.
