I AM writing to tell you of the exemplary treatment I received recently at the A&E department of Withybush Hospital.

Having fallen off a ladder sustaining an obvious break to my wrist, I arrived at the above department on Tuesday, January 24, at 3.45pm and was dealt with promptly by the receptionist and within a short time was seen by a triage nurse who was both brisk and sympathetic.

It was confirmed after attending X-ray that it was indeed a bad break. Reassurance by the medical staff – a junior doctor acting under supervision of a senior A&E doctor, a staff nurse and the plasterer Terry, kept me informed at all times of my condition and options of treatment.

During the process of manipulation of the limb, I was kept calm by their professionalism and care for my well-being. I left the hospital at 6.20pm, with a plaster cast and a follow-up appointment for the next week.

Our local NHS is a much beleaguered and unappreciated service under constant threat of cuts. It’s about time users of the service took some time to inform those in authority of any good service they have received and the gratitude they feel towards the dedication of the staff.
