THE article by Katy Woodhouse updating us on the council view on black bag collection and recycling was interesting.

She states: “without food or nappies there would be nothing in black bags, agreed councillors.”

On that basis, if, as suggested, we have separate collections for nappies and other absorbent hygienic waste, we have no need for black bags, assuming our food waste is put into green bins.

So we need not argue any further about black bag collection frequency.

Councillor Kilmister says pet waste is the owners’ responsibility.

If we are to avoid hanging doggy bags on hedges, gateposts, what exactly should we do with them?

In our house, despite correct use of orange bags and green bins, we still seem to have a lot of miscellaneous waste in our black bags, so how did the council reach their unrealistic conclusion?
