Dear editor, I have just had a phone call from someone who said they were from Sky TV, saying our sky equipment guarantee was out of date and it needed to be paid, or I would not be covered for breakdowns.

I said we had never had it, and anyway, they only fitted it in September, so it was still under warranty. The caller hung up. On checking 1471, the number had been withheld.

On checking with Sky, they said another agency would make a call like this, as they don’t do the extended warranty themselves.

So it looks like bogus people trying to target people to encourage them to pay money or give bank details.

Thought I would let you know so you can warn others.
