Oar-some chance to go for a row
10:50am Saturday 26th January 2013 in Milford Mercury news
Pembrokeshire Yacht Club, in Gellyswick Bay, Milford Haven, will open its doors tomorrow (Sunday, January 27th) for a community rowing taster session.
The club, which has three Celtic longboats, offers members an opportunity to try out both competitive and informal rowing. It is affiliated to the Welsh Sea Rowing Association and has training teams which compete regularly in the longboat league, from March to October.
April Smart, from the rowing section committee, said: “We guarantee a friendly welcome and a relaxed opportunity for people to try a new activity, whatever their current fitness levels. We hope that our free session will give people the motivation to get involved.
“We have a beautiful waterway and rowing is an excellent way of getting some fresh air, having fun and getting fit.”
The rowing open day, for beginners and experienced rowers aged 14 and over, will start at 11am. Those wishing to take part are advised to wear a pair of trainers, t-shirt and jogging bottoms. For more information on call Emma Gent on 07833 086817 or visit www.pembsyachtclub.org.uk.
