A gang of robbers who burst into a house in Milfod Haven and attacked the occupier are facing lengthy prison sentences after entering pleas of guilty.

Neil MacDonald was hit with a crowbar and a table leg and seriously injured before the robbers escaped with a quantity of cash.

The drama ended after a high speed chase by police when the men's BMW crashed at Pont Abraham as the gang approached the M4.

Ian Jenkins, aged 25, of Battersea, London; 25-year-old Michael Lash-Larbie of Mitcham, Surrey; Bradley Clancy, 31, of Wellington, Surrey; a 17-year-old of Beddington, Surrey and Jordan Reinhardt, aged 29, of Wallington, Croydon, appeared before Judge Peter Heywood at Swansea crown court for a plea and case management hearing.

They all admitted robbery on October 11 last year.

Jenkins, Lash-Larbie and the youth also admitted wounding Mr MacDonald with intent to cause him grievous bodily harm.

Reinhardt admitted dangerous driving.

The quantity of the cash stolen was not quantified but more details will be revealed when the men are sentenced on February 15.

They were all remanded in custody until then.

During an earlier hearing before Haverfordwest magistrates the prosecution had maintained the men had got away with a safe containing £14,000.

Christopher James, prosecuting, said that at around 10.30pm three men in black masks entered a property in Edward Street, Milford Haven.

They set about Mr MacDonald, who had been watching television with his wife.

The court was told that they struck him until he fell to the floor, kicking him so badly that he suffered serious injuries.
