Missing: Ben Thompson. Missing: Ben Thompson.

A lane on a busy dual carriageway into Cardiff has been closed so officers can continue the search for missing Haverfordwest man Ben Thompson.

A lane on the A4232 Leckwith to Culverhouse Cross road has been closed to allow officers to search the verges safely.

Despite a large search, including a police helicopter and specialist dive teams, Ben has not been seen since Saturday.

He had travelled to Cardiff for the Wales v Ireland Six Nations clash.

Family and friends of the South Hook LNG worker have travelled to the capital to help with the search.

South Wales Chief Inspector Eddie Ough said: “We have had a positive response following the press appeals and wish to thank all those who have called us.

“The information they have provided has confirmed that we are searching the right area.

“Ben’s family, friends and colleagues are assisting the investigation by speaking with the local community to gather further information and they are also arranging additional leaflets and posters for which we are grateful.”

Ben is described as 5ft 9in tall, with short brown hair, blue eyes, and was last seen wearing brown leather lace-up boots, blue jeans, and a white shirt with blue thin stripes.

CCTV footage showed Ben crossing Leckwith Road into Lawrenny Avenue at 7.17pm on Saturday and new images capture him minutes later walking down a lane at the end of Lawrenny Avenue towards wasteland.

Anyone who has seen Ben or has any information which may assist is asked to contact the Command Room at Cardiff Bay Police Station on 02920 338 465.
