'More scrutiny needed of South Hook LNG power plans'

More scrutiny should be given to the proposed combined heat and power (CHP) plant at the South Hook LNG terminal, Milford Haven town councillors have said.

The proposed plant, which could be capable of supplying sufficient electricity to meet the needs of 900,000 homes, is still in the stages of development but, according to the South Hook CHP project office, will be designed to the highest safety and environmental standards.

Milford Haven Mayor Cllr Guy Woodham said that the council needed to invite the South Hook CHP project director or a member of his project team to come and speak to members about the proposals.

Cllr John Cole added: "There are issues here that we need to raise, like using road routes to deliver goods or building materials to the site. We need to have a discussion about what their proposals are because there are implications for the whole network around Milford Haven."

Councillors sitting on Monday's public works and planning committee recommended to invite the concerned South Hook LNG personnel to an upcoming full town council meeting.
