A NEW Pembrokeshire youth charity which aims to run US-style summer camps for kids will launch in Milford Haven next month.
Youth Generation Pembrokeshire will begin fundraising in early September when it kicks off a live acoustic night at Milford Haven Football Club in Marble Hall.
The not-for-profit organisation, which was set up by Rob James, of Priory Road, while he was backpacking across the USA earlier this year, aims to help young people with learning new skills, and get training, support, and advice.
The 23-year-old said: “Communities seem very in touch with each other in the USA and I couldn’t help but feel I had to do something to get that atmosphere back home.
“In the long term I’d love to operate a US-style summer camp for all young people in the county to go and learn something new, experience something out of their comfort zone and support them in the pursuit of their passions and dreams.
“In the short-term I’d like to help people with training, advice and support. We have many exciting events coming up over the next few months that we cannot wait to unveil in the future.”
The live acoustic night will be held in Marble Hall on Friday, September 13. Tickets are £10 and include a free drink and nibbles.
Confirmed acts include The Pennysows, Harry & Mx, Amy Bateman, Meg Charlton, Kyle Kirkhouse and Rob James.
Tickets are available through the trustees, acts, or online at www.youthgenerationpembrokeshire.org.uk. Merchandise including T-shirts, wristbands and signed CDs will also be available from the site with all proceeds going to the cause.
