DIGNITARIES from across the county joined the new mayor of Pembroke Dock for a civic parade and service on Sunday, October 13.
Councillor Jane Phillips was officially inaugurated as mayor for 2013/14 in May, taking over the reins from Councillor Peter Kraus. But due to other engagements the civic service was not held until the weekend.
People lined the streets to watch the parade, which congregated in the youth centre car park at 9.45am.
The procession, which was made up of cub scouts, sea cadets and various Pembrokeshire flag bearers, was led through the town by the Pembroke Borough Silver Band.
They arrived at St John’s Church at 10.30am for the service, which was taken by the Rev. Nicky Skipworth.
Mayors and consorts from across Pembrokeshire attended the event in support of Cllr Phillips, as well as the Chairman of the County Council, Councillor Arwyn Williams.
Cllr Phillips said it was a “well attended civic service” and that she was “delighted to see local cub scouts and sea cadets taking part.”
She also praised Peri Wagstaff, who performed a “beautiful rendition of It's a Wonderful World.”
Refreshments were served in the Pater Hall following the service.
