Council unwraps new Christmas fund plans

MILFORD Haven Town Council is changing the way it makes its annual Christmas donations.
At Thursday’s Finance and General Purposes Committee meeting, councillors agreed to pilot a new scheme that will see an increased budget of £1,500 made available to all sort of different groups and organisations within the town.
For many years, the council has awarded local groups and organisations a small donation to support Christmas activities and events that they undertake leading up to and during the festive period.
This year, groups are now being asked to apply for the fund, stating what the money will be used for.
To be eligible, you must be a group or organisation based in Milford Haven, or primarily working with Milford Haven residents, and the grant request must be for an event connected with Christmas 2013 and benefit the people of the town.
Cllr Guy Woodham, chairman of the Finance and General Purposes Committee, said: "The Committee is unlikely to be able to make very large donations given the total funds available are £1,500. However I’m sure any financial support that can be provided will be a help and gratefully received.
"We would like as many local groups and organisations to apply, although unfortunately, it is likely that we will not be able to award a grant to every organisation that does so."
Grant application forms are available to download from the town council website www.milfordhaventowncouncil.org.uk or by telephoning 01646 692505.
Completed applications forms must be received at Milford Haven Town Hall no later than 5pm on Wednesday, November 6.
