ALMOST two thousand people enjoyed a day of festive fun at Milford’s Christmas Cracker on Sunday (December 15), despite very wintery conditions.

Spirits were high as families wrapped up warm and visited Milford Marina for a day of shopping, ice skating and entertainment organised by the Port of Milford Haven.

Around two hundred children were greeted by popular children’s TV characters SuperTed, Sali Mali, Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Goofy, Mike and Sulley and Mr Tumble before popping in to see Santa in his grotto. Meanwhile Samba DOC and Radio Pembrokeshire’s live entertainment, featuring Gina Jones and previous X-Factor contestant John Adams, kept hundreds of skaters whizzing around the ice rink throughout the day.

The events planned for Saturday had to be cancelled.

“High winds were causing potentially dangerous conditions,” said Lucy James, Marketing Manager (Short Sea) for the Port of Milford Haven.

“The organising team, retailers, market traders and entertainers were all hugely disappointed and so when Sunday’s event was able to go ahead, everyone was delighted. Not everything went according to plan but everyone worked together to make sure no one was disappointed. Although it was organised by the Port it was a real community effort,” she added.
