GREENACRES Animal Rescue Centre in Talbenny has been inundated with unwanted cats and dogs over the Christmas period.

The manager there, Mikey Lawlor, said: “It’s been pretty hectic. Animals were being dropped off right up until Christmas Eve.

“We’ve run out of room for the dogs, they are staying in spare rooms and the stables.

“We stopped re-homing the animals over Christmas, but have now started back up, and a few adoption applications have been received this week, which is good news.”

The not-for-profit rescue centre receives no public funding and relies heavily on the support of the public, and a dedicated band of volunteers, who believe every animal deserves a second chance.

An appeal is being made for any donations of dog or cat food, cat litter and fleecy blankets to keep the animals warm over the winter months.

There are drop off points at the Greenacres shops in Charles Street, Milford Haven, St Govans Centre, Pembroke Dock, Pets at Home, Haverfordwest, Yorkshire Building Society, Tenby, and Sandyhill Nurseries in Saundersfoot.
