A BOOK about life in Milford Haven during the Second World War has helped raised £1,000 for the Paul Sartori Foundation
‘The Day War Broke Out’ was written by Milford Mercury columnist Jeff Dunn, and is an adaptation of a play he wrote 20 years ago.
It went on sale at Milford News in Charles Street last November, with very few of the 250 copies printed left on the shelf.
Jeff presented a cheque to Paul Sartori fundraising coordinator Toni Dorkings on Wednesday, January 22.
He said: “It’s really pleasing the way people have responded to the book and I’m grateful to everyone who has bought it.
“Paul Sartori has always been a cause close to my heart over the years. They need a lot of money every day and every little helps.”
Andy Read from Milford News said he was happy to sell the book on Jeff’s behalf.
“My father-in-law-died of cancer several years ago and the Paul Sartori nurses looked after him.”
