A MILFORD Haven Sea Cadet has thanked the town’s mayor for the opportunity to represent local young people over the last year.

Petty Officer Cadet Daniel Tucker was appointed the Mayor’s Cadet for 2013/14 in June.

As part of his role, the 16-year-old accompanied Mayor Cllr Yvonne Southwell. at the Remembrance Day parade, the Fisherman’s Tribute, Civic Parade and will also attend the upcoming HMS Rosemary Tribute.

Despite being appointed to the role in June last year, Daniel was only recently presented with his badge of office from the Sea Cadet and Royal Marines Cadet Unit, during a visit by Cllr Southwell.

Cllr Southwell used the visit to inspect the Ship’s Company and have a look at what the cadets get up on a nightly basis.

Daniel is the fourth cadet to be awarded the prestigious badge of office since its re-introduction five years ago.

Chief Petty Officer (SCC) Beverley Jenkins, the Unit Officer in Charge, said: “I was over the moon to see Daniel being rewarded for his hard work while being a cadet with us; he has achieved a number of qualifications and experiences, some which have never been achieved by a Milford Haven Cadet. He is a smart young man and a credit to this unit and he shows this through being the mayor’s cadet”.

Daniel thanked the mayor for the opportunity to represent the cadet forces and the young people of Milford Haven during the last year.
