TO COMMEMORATE the 100th anniversary of the start of the First World War, the Milford Haven branch of the Royal British Legion is organising an exhibition later this year – and is looking for local people to contribute.
They are seeking letters, photographs and other memorabilia from the time, and are interested in information on the social conditions in the town when the men left for war, and what it was like when they came back.
The Legion would also like to learn more about women’s role in the war effort, from becoming nurses to taking care of the home while the soldiers were overseas.
Display cabinets are also needed for the exhibition, which is planned for July 31, and August 1 and 2.
On August 3, a civic service will be held at St Katharine and St Peter’s Church, and the Legion will be holding a short service on Charles Street on August 4.
Anyone who can add to these events, or would like more information, should contact Milford Haven town clerk Moyra Galliford on 01646 692505 or email mhtownclerk@btconnect.com.
