MORE than £750,000 of Welsh Government funding has been pledged to improve the Bulford Road, in Milford Haven.

In total, £775,000 has been promised towards the Northern Distributor Network scheme, which will affect the Bulford Road.

The cash is part of a £15.4million funding pot, announced by Transport Minister Edwina Hart last week, which will be used to improve public transport, roads and walking and cycling facilities across Wales.

Also set to benefit from £160,000 of cash are cycle networks to Milford Haven and Goodwick train stations.

The Minister said: “This money will be used to improve public transport, walking and cycling facilities and traffic flows in communities across Wales.

“The projects selected will support the Welsh Government’s priorities for jobs and growth, by improving access to Enterprise Zones, and improving public transport to employment sites.

“Others will improve access to key facilities and services for those living in disadvantaged areas, and some will encourage active travel and reduce reliance on the car for journeys in the community.”

The money has been allocated from the Local Transport Fund to projects that will help deliver economic benefits and promote cycling and walking through development of route maps under the Active Travel (Wales) Act 2013.

The Swansea Bay and Cardiff Capital city region boards were involved in appraising the bids from local authorities in their areas and Sustrans advised on the active travel projects.
