TWO girl-guiding groups in Milford Haven have thanked the former town Mayor after receiving cheques for £100 each.

Cllr Yvonne Southwell, who served as mayor from 2013 to 2014, handed out the cheques as part of her final charitable donations of her year in office.

The 2nd Milford Haven and 7th Milford Haven Brownies groups will use the money to enjoy fun trips out.

District commissioner Alexia Morgans-Hurley said: “We are extremely grateful for the donations as we are reliant on girls’ parents to fund activities, so it’s a fantastic amount for us receive.”

Around 35 girls, aged between 7 and 10, attend the two groups, which teaches new skills, helps develop teamwork, and provides lots of fun activities.

During term time, the groups meet on Monday at Monday at St Katherine’s Church Hall, from 5.30pm until 7pm, and on Thursday, between 6.30pm and 8pm.

The best way is to register with Brownies is to visit the ‘join us’ section on their website.
