DRAGON LNG has teamed up with Tenovus, Wales’ leading cancer charity, to host a cancer awareness day for local people.

Tenovus will be offering the free health checks at Newton Hall, Waterston, on Tuesday, June 3, commencing at 9am.

The charity’s ‘sun cream’ van will also be on site, offering free samples and tips on staying safe in the sun.

Cynthia Smith, Occupational Health Advisor at Dragon LNG, said: “More than one in three of us developing some form of cancer during our lifetime.

“It is essential that people are aware of the symptoms and risks associated with this disease so they can take action to try and reduce that risk.”

Maura Matthews, Health and Wellbeing Manager at Tenovus, said: “We want everyone to be able to enjoy the sunny weather this year, but to take some really simple steps so they can be ‘sun safe’ and look after their skin.

“Skin cancer rates have doubled in the last 10 years and it is now one of the most common forms of cancer in 15 to 34-year-olds, so it’s really important we know how to stay ‘sun safe’ this summer.”
