AN EXHIBITION showing the strategic importance of Milford Haven to the Second World War effort goes on display in Dale on September 11.

Coastlands Local History Group, which covers the villages of Dale, Marloes, St Brides and St Ishmaels, will be holding an exhibition showing the military history of the area at the Old Stables Heritage Centre, South Street, Dale from Thursday, September 11, to 28.

The area has always been of strategic importance for the defence of the harbour of Milford Haven and on show will be photographs and other archive records about Victorian Forts, RN prototype Flying Boats and the part played by local villages in the both world wars, and the Cold War.

The history group is commemorating the centenary of the First World War on a yearly basis, so this exhibition will give details of those who died in 1914, explaining the part they played in the early battles on the Western Front.

The heritage centre is open Thursday to Sunday, 10am to 5pm.

Admission is free.
