FAMILY and friends of a five-year-old Hakin boy are hoping a special gig this weekend will raise enough cash to pay for an intensive therapy programme that could transform his life.

Kieran Frank has autism, which affects his ability to communicate with the world, and means he finds many aspects of daily life upsetting or confusing.

“The only way to describe his meltdowns is as if someone has hurt him, he gets quite hysterical, and it can be quite upsetting for other people,” said Kieran’s mum, Victoria Langdon.

Friends and family have been raising money to pay for an intensive five-day course at Skybound Autism Therapies centre, in Wiston.

Costing £3,000, the course includes toilet training, speech therapy and occupational therapy, and Victoria has high hopes for the effect it will have on Kieran.

“When we went there for a free consultation, the transformation was incredible,” she said.

“It was like a little miracle.

“I think this would transform his life.”

The total fundraising target is £4,000, which would pay for the course and a special computer, which would help Kieran communicate with his family through apps.

Victoria’s best friend Leah Ferris has already raised £2,300 by running the Cardiff half-marathon with colleagues Adam and Cerianne from Halen Mor, in Milford Haven, and money was also raised by relative Ian Connick, from Bristol.

And it is hoped that a fundraising gig at the Llan y Mor this Saturday (October 18) will help the family meet their target.

Local band Honeyhead, singer Elly Sinnet, Blims frontman Martin Dann and beatboxer Canny will all be performing, and have waived their fee for the occasion.

Fantastic prizes like tickets to Folly Farm, goodies from Salt hair and beauty, and Vincent Davies vouchers will be up for grabs in a raffle, and an auction will see a £300 Clarins Hamper, a photoshoot and a mystery date up for sale.

Victoria said she has been overwhelmed by everyone’s desire to help Kieran, and was excited to think her son might soon get the extra help he needs.

“For him to have the life that everyone else has would be wonderful,” she said.

“Why should he miss out on things that other people get to experience?”

Doors open for the gig at 6pm, and the auction starts at 7pm. Payment is donation on the door.
