ACTING Petty Officer (SCC) Tomas Lewis-Jones of Milford Haven Sea Cadets and Royal Marines Cadets becomes apart of a Drill Instructor legacy that has been developed at this local Unit.

A drill instructor is someone who has very high standards in uniforms, ceremonial and carrying out duties.

Ceremonial is an every day part of the Cadet Forces, with ‘drill’ being carried out by showing basic marks of respect, to static and moving drill, marching and parades.

Sub Lieutenant (SCC) William Elliott said Milford Haven Unit has always had a strong ethos of drill and ceremonial, and as a result had a good trend, as well as support in developing Drill instructors and Cadet Drill Instructors.

Tomas, was a Cadet Drill Instructor and has recently converted to the Adult Drill Instructor qualification; an achievement which continues the legacy at Milford Haven.

Especially, as Milford Haven is still the only Sea Cadet Unit this side of Swansea with a Drill Instructor.

Chief Petty Officer (SCC) Beverley Jenkins, the Commanding Officer, said: “A great achievement of Tomas and the Unit, a qualification that he has used and continues to use to help develop standards within the Unit. Well done Tomas!”
