PEOPLE who have experienced health services for women and children in Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire are being urged to share their views.

Changes made by Hywel Dda University Health Board in a number of areas were strongly opposed and an independent review is due to be carried out before being presented to Welsh Government this year.

In June 2014 consultant led obstetrics, some gynaecology services and the Special Care Baby Unit were removed from Withybush Hospital, replaced with a Midwife Led Unit. In October last year 24 hour paediatric inpatient services were lost.

A health board spokesman said the changes are also being monitored and reviewed by the organisation on an ongoing basis.

Chief executive Steve Moore said patient experience would be a key part of any review and that a special group to “capture and consider patient, family and staff experience was being set-up”.

“We want to remind people who have used these services, or their families, that we are keen to hear about their experiences.

“Whether they are good or bad, the experience of a patient is an imperative part of how we learn and make adjustments and improvements to the way we provide care,” he added.

Anyone wishing to share their experience as a patient, or family member/carer, can visit www.hywelddahb.wales.nhs.uk/myexperience and fill in a survey. You can also pick one up from the main reception at hospital or request one by calling 01554 899 056.

A guide to what services are available can be found at www.hywelddahb.wales.nhs.uk/yourfutureservices where there is also an Easy Read version for people with learning disabilities.
