MARION Bedford, town councillor for Milford Haven’s central ward, has stepped down.

Mrs Bedford joined the Milford Haven Town Council in 2011 following an uncontested election.

She said she would be sad to leave her role, as she had enjoyed her time on the council, but that due to personal circumstances, she was “no longer able to wholeheartedly give everything I can to the council, so I thought it only fair to let someone else have the opportunity to step up”.

“The council is working for Milford Haven and if you’re not doing everything you can you have to step back,” she said.

Of her fellow councillors, she said: “They’re a super bunch and they all work so hard.”

Mayor Cllr Eric Harries said he was sorry to hear Mrs Bedford felt she could no longer continue in her role, but said he valued her service to the town, and wished her a long and happy retirement.

Mrs Bedford will now be concentrating on her volunteer work at Milford Haven museum and the Torch Theatre.

A public notice announcing the empty seat, and whether an election will need to be called, is expected this Friday (April 17).
