A LEADING west Wales house builder has donated £750 to help a group bring joy to the people of Milford Haven.

Milford Haven Round Table has received the cash boost from Persimmon Homes West Wales as part of its Community Champions project, which will see a pot of £24,000 being given to support local groups and charities over the next 12 months.

Milford Haven Round Table runs events throughout the year for people in the community, including the annual summer carnival, fireworks in November and an Easter fun day.

Martin Wilcox, of the group, said: “We are delighted that Persimmon Homes West Wales chose to support our group. We raise funds to support local people and we also put on events to enrich the lives of our community.

“We couldn’t continue without donations such as this.”

Sharon Robinson, of Persimmon West Wales, said the community initiative was a way of supporting people across every city, town and village where the company works.

She said: “We are very proud to hand over this donation to Milford Haven Round Table, an extremely worthy cause.

“It is wonderful to donate this money for groups that directly benefits and helps people in the local area.”

The Persimmon Community Champions initiative is a national programme where charities and groups can apply for funding up to the value of £1,000 to match money they have already raised themselves.

Nationwide the company will donate a total of £750,000.

Sharon said: “We’ve made it really simple to apply for funding, and we’re urging groups and charities to apply for next month’s donation by completing an online form at www.persimmonhomes.com/charity.”
