THE tall ship Tenacious is in Milford Haven, where it is getting some much needed TLC.

Owned and operated by the Jubilee Sailing Trust (JST), a charity giving life changing sailing experiences to those in need, the ship is having essential maintenance work done.

The JST offers both able-bodied and disabled people holidays where they get the chance to experience working together in a challenging environment.

Having spent the winter exploring the Canary Islands and Spain, Tenacious embarked on her homecoming voyage back to the UK on April 12.

Tenacious was purpose-designed to combine traditional square-rig with special features that make it possible for physically disabled people, including wheelchair users, to take a full and active role in crewing the ship.

The dry docking period coincides with the JST’s new fundraising appeal – Your Ships Need You.

The appeal is raising funds to pay for the upkeep and maintenance of the specialist equipment on board.

The cost of the voyages alone does not cover the essential maintenance work required annually, and each year JST has to raise in excess of £2 million to keep voyages affordable and accessible to its crews.

Andy Spark, Chief Executive Officer of JST, said: “These essential engineering works are critical to our ability to continue to deliver life-changing adventures, and we are hugely grateful for the ongoing support of Milford Haven Dry Dock.”
