CASH prizes are on offer for floats and fancy dress entries at St Ishmaels carnival on Saturday, August 8.

The popular annual carnival start from the North Hall estate at 2pm, processing through the village to the carnival field at the cricket club.

There is an open theme for this year's parade, so entrants can be as creative as they desire.

Last year's event saw Land Girls, pirates, Oompa Loompas and a giant sea anemone made out of balloons battle for first place, and this year's event is sure not to disappoint.

Prize money for best float is £100, with £75 for second place and £50 for third place. There will also be up to £75 on offer for best walking group, and a top prize of £50 for best walking individual.

After the parade, there will be lots to see and do on the carnival field, including stalls, fairground and car boot sale.

Entertainment will be provided by Theeko the clown and Unison Dance Group will be performing their amazing dance routines.

Music will be provided by talented singer and guitarist Will Scott and his band Loose Change, who will perform a solo set in the early evening before returning with his full band later on.

The live music will be supported by the excellent Mark Devs Disco who once again will be compere for the day.

There will be plenty to eat and drink including the famous pork rolls and burger stall, and a raffle with a top prize of £100.

Once again villagers are invited to get into the pre-carnival spirit by decorating their property, and this year 'fancy dress scarecrows' can also be entered as entrants to this competition, with the winning entry receiving £25.
