AROUND 300 dolphins have been caught on camera off the Pembrokeshire coast.

The incredible sight was captured by Charlie Thomas, 15, while out fishing with his father Vaughan.

Charlie said: "We just couldn’t believe what we were seeing; it was such an incredible experience and one that I’ll never ever forget."

The sighting was just one of several amazing marine wildlife encounters across the county last week.

The Wildlife Trust was also delighted with an incredibly rare sighting of a pod of Common dolphins in North Haven, Skomer Island.

And in Cardigan Bay, a Basking Shark was spotted from the Wildlife Trust's research base at New Quay harbour wall.

Sarah Perry, Living Sea’s science officer at the Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales, said: "The recent spate of sightings show how important the waters around the Welsh coast can be for marine megafauna.

"Hotspot areas are important not just for these exciting marine megafauna species but for the many marine species that live beneath the surface."

The Wildlife Trust Living Seas work focuses on collecting information on marine megafauna and to raise awareness of the marine environment in order to help protect it for future generations.
