THE High Sheriff of Dyfed will be taking to the skies and jumping from 12,000 ft in the name of charity.

James Lewis, the High Sheriff of Dyfed, will be taking part in a sponsored tandem parachute jump on Friday, September 4, to raise money for the HOPE MS Centre in Neyland.

The HOPE centre was set up in 1986 to provide oxygen treatment for people with Multiple Sclerosis (MS).

The treatment involves breathing pure oxygen at a higher than normal atmospheric pressure in a Hyperbaric Chamber. This can provide the benefits of improved mobility, improved speech, better control of incontinence, improved eyesight and a general feeling of wellbeing for many people with MS.

The centre also provides a place for those with MS, their friends and carers, to spend time chatting and socialising.

Since 1997, HOPE has also expanded to offer physiotherapy to those MS sufferers who need it.

So far James has already raised £2,690, but is hoping more people will help him in his fundraising aim.

Cheques, made out to H.O.P.E., can also be sent to Pengaer, Llanddewi Velfrey, Narberth, Pembrokeshire SA67 8UR.
